Is River Island open on Boxing Day?

No national River Island Boxing Day schedule has been found for 2025, either from River Island or in dated press reports. Treat opening as store by store. Check the branch’s holiday hours in River Island’s store finder before travelling.

Also confirm the branch is still trading. River Island’s restructuring plan, sanctioned by the High Court in August 2025, closed 33 stores. Time Out reported on 12 January 2026 that 27 of them would close during January 2026.

Check the basket, not just the ticket

River Island’s promotion terms limit its published free standard delivery and free Click & Collect offers to qualifying full-price orders. Sale and markdown items are excluded. The current email sign-up promotion also excludes sale items, so do not assume a new-customer code stacks with a reduction.

Check the actual delivery charge and eligible code in the basket before comparing another retailer. Adding an unwanted full-price item to meet an offer threshold can leave you spending more overall.

Fit and fabric are the useful comparisons

For a coat, compare the fabric composition, lining, length and care instructions. For an outfit, check the separate pieces and whether each is available in the size you need. A photographed outfit is not necessarily sold as a set.

Choose a return route before ordering

River Island’s UK returns guidance gives 28 days from delivery or store purchase for eligible returns. Items should be clean, unworn and have their tags attached, with the original receipt or dispatch confirmation. Product exceptions apply.

For eligible online orders, returns to UK stores are free, excluding Jersey and the Isle of Man and subject to the same-currency condition. The UK drop-off and collection routes carry a £2.95 charge under the policy checked on 27 September 2026.

For Christmas 2025, River Island extended returns on purchases made from 20 October 2025 until 14 January 2026, as stated on its 22 December 2025 homepage. Those returns were for gift card credit, not a refund to your payment method.
